最近ハリウッドを中心に流行始めているThe Giving Keysっていうムーヴメントを知っていますか？今回、JKの２人が実際にその鍵を購入して、この活動について解説してみました！
Recently, there has been a popular trend in the Hollywood area called The Giving Keys. This time, JK got a key themselves to help explain what this whole thing is about.

Kristina: Oooh what service Japan!
Junko: Great!
Kristina: So uh, I guess you guys are wondering whats inside?
Yay! We got a pouch!
Junko: The Giving Keys, Los Angeles.
Look! The key!
Kristina: Awesome!
Junko: Oh sorry!
So, about a week ago, I stumbled on a TED Talk that was uh, done by this girl who started the organization for The Giving Keys. And, I was really intrigued by her story and I went to her website and checked it out and what it is, she collects old keys from anywhere…that aren’t being used anymore and she engraves motivational words into the keys. They whole concept behind it is that you wear the key until you believe in the word and once you feel confident that you believe in the word, you give this key to someone else that you believe needs it.
Kristina: to like, support each other. Encourage someone.
It’s a very personal gift, um, so for me, Kristina needs focus. You know, I would get a key like that and say “focus” and I would wear it as a reminder to myself to like…c’mon Kris, focus. Until I feel like, you know what? I have achieved the word on this key. I have become a more focused person. Let me give this to someone else who I think needs help focusing. It’s kind of like passing on uh…good vibes.
Junko: And as it says, pay it forward. The whole concept of paying it forward, you pass it on to someone and then once they believe in it, they will pass it on. And it just goes into this cycle.
Kristina: Of good vibes and positivity.
Junko: So, recently, after doing some research on this key I uh, noticed that The Giving Keys have become quite popular amongst the um, Hollywood residents. Actors, models, just people with big names. Right off the bat, I can name like, Selena Gomez, Zac Efron, um that girl from Pretty Little Liars…Ashley Benson. There we go. Um, and they all have Giving Keys. Also what I think is cool about the keys, they are associated with a charity that gives back to homeless people. The girl who started this, she paired up with two homeless people. They made jewelry, handcrafted jewelry, and so, she wanted to work with them to find unique looking keys and to engrave words into the keys. And started this whole service and now those two people are off the streets, living in a nice apartment and can afford things. And most of the employees there are either people who are homeless or who have been homeless, and trying to get off the streets. And its just for a good cause and the concept behind the keys are really positive and motivational and we want to pass that on to you guys. And hopefully the good vibes will come across the Pacific and into Japanland and people will be passing keys around. But don’t pass your house key out. That’s a bad idea.
Kristina: Are you sure? Just kidding!
So Jun, what did we get on this key?
Junko: We got two words actually, which they were so kind to put a space between the words. Um, Take Risks. Because…for anything, in life, in learning English,
Kristina: Or challenges or things you desire.
Junko: Risks need to be taken in order to achieve.
Kristina: And evolve.
So, we got this key to encourage you guys to take risks and try to use your English with strangers or go make the opportunity to speak the language. You know, its about the communication, its about putting yourself out there and it’s a great way to make friends. You will learn more the more you use English. So um, what, we’re going to hold a drawing for whoever wants this key, “Take Risks” on this video

先週あたり、あるTED Talkを見てて、この女の子がThe Giving Keysって組織を始めたの。彼女の話にすごく興味を持って、より知るためにウェブサイトに行ったの。彼女は古い鍵を集めて…もう使われてない鍵ね、それでモチベーションが上がるような言葉を鍵に彫ったの。鍵のコンセプトとしては自分がその言葉を信じるまで鍵をつけておくの。そして自信を持てた時にその言葉が必要だと思う人に鍵をあげるの。
Kristina: お互いをサポートするみたいにね。誰かを励ます。
すごく個人的なプレゼントだね、私なら、Kristinaはもっと集中しなくちゃいけない。私だったらね、「集中」って彫ってある鍵をつけて、自分にこう…おいKrisもっと集中しろって思い出させてもらう感じ。そしていつか、うん、この鍵の言葉を達成できるまで。ちゃんと集中できるような人になれたら、この鍵を集中力が必要な人にあげる。これっていいヴァイブを…渡してる感じだよね。
Junko: そうれに「恩送り」って書いてるしね。この恩送りってコンセプト、誰かにあげて、その人も信じるようになったら、また誰かに渡す。そしてこのサイクルに入って行く。
Kristina: いいヴァイブとポジティブな気持ちがね。
Junko: それで最近いろいろ鍵について調べてたらね、The Giving Keysって結構…ハリウッドの住民の間で人気だってことに気づいた。役者、モデル、有名人。今思い浮かんでくるのはSelena Gomez、Zac Efron、後Pretty Little Liarsのあの子…Ashley Benson。それだ。みんなGiving Keys持ってるの。この鍵のもう一ついいところがねチャリティーと繋がってて、ホームレスの人たちを手伝うの。実はこれを始めた女の子、ホームレスの2人と始めたの。彼らは手作りのジュエリーを作ってて、彼女は彼らと一緒にユニークな鍵を探して言葉を鍵に彫ってくことをしてたの。それでこのサービスが始まって、今じゃその2人はストリートから抜け出して、ちゃんとしたアパートに住んでるの。雇われてるほんとんどの人はね、現在ホームレスか、以前までホームレスだった人たちで、家に住めるようがんばってるの。かなりいいことに繋がってるし、鍵のコンセプト自体もポジティブでモチベーションのあることだからみんなにもわけたくてね。それでこのいいヴァイブが太平洋を超えて日本にきて、人々が鍵を渡し合えたら良いね。でも家の鍵は渡しちゃダメだよ。良くないアイディア。
Kristina: そうかな？冗談！
それでJun、この鍵には何を彫ったの？
Junko: ２つの単語を彫ったんだよね、実は。言葉の間にスペースを入れてもらえてすごく嬉しい。それで、Take Risks(リスクを取れ)。だって…何に関しても、人生、英語の勉強
Kristina: 他のチャレンジや欲望とかにも
Junko: リスクを取らないと何も達成できない。
Kristina: 進化もね。
それでこの鍵をみんながリスクを取る勇気を出してもらうために、知らない人と英語で話したり、英語を使えるような場面を作り上げるために買いました。全部コミュニケーションだからさ、勇気を振り絞ってその機会を作らないと、それに友達作りに最高じゃん。英語をもっと使うともっと勉強になるし。だから、この鍵が欲しい人のためにくじ引きをこの「Take Risks」動画でやります。
