久しぶりに戻ってきました、Junkoの邦楽ロック教室！今回は大阪で見た事のあるバンド、Applicat SpectraをKristinaに紹介しました。さて、今回の感想はどうでしょう？？

We are back with Junko teaches Kristina Japanese rock! This time, Junko introduces Applicat Spectra, a band that she once saw in Osaka. How will they rate them??

10歳まで日本で育った後、アメリカで青春時代を過ごし、大学時代に再び来日。日米ハーフのバイリンガル。学生時代はライブハウスでアルバイトするほどの音楽好きで、特に邦楽インディーズシーンに造詣が深い。

Kristina

アメリカの大学卒業後、アーティスト、格闘家など様々な職業を経て来日。現在は女子プロレス団体「スターダム」で「クリス・ウルフ」としても活躍しつつ Listn.me の盛り上げ役として笑顔とユーモアを振りまく存在。常に何かを食べている腹ペコモンスター。

K: HI!

J: HI!

K: It’s Junko!

J: It’s Kristina! And together we’re JKJK…

JK: BOOM!

J: They’re called Applicat Spectra. I first saw them in Osaka. I was with my friend and we were in the front, right? ‘Cause we like being in the front. The second they came out we’re like “Oh they look pretty cool. Oh and the vocalist, he’s the bass player.” I like that. I dig it. Cool. And then they started playing their music and we’re like…”Ok, I like it..it’s good.” And then he started singing. And slowly we backed away…until we were at the very back of the..con..like the room. And then we left.

K: Oh!

J: So the song that we’re going to listen to is called “St. Elmo”. This song is all about being connected. I know we’re gonna forget things, but let’s try to remember because we used to…we used to dream sweet dreams. I like this shot. 1, 2, 3 ,4 ..4 it’s a 4 piece.

K: Mmm…Jun really doesn’t like this…

J: I have all the bad feels. Although, some of the shots in the music video were nice.

K: Actually it was really pretty well done.

J: And if I don’t l look…at them…if I don’t look at his face…or actually any of them… if I don’t look at the video and I like take out the sound…like..

K: If I turn off my phone..and I stop the video…it’s ok.

J: Then I like it.

K: Everything is OK! ..Ok…so before Jun explodes in anger…Um…my thoughts on the video..I could easily see it as an anime opening. You know it’s upbeat, it’s happy, it’s speaking about the connectivity in life…BUT…I think what..threw me off is..the main singer’s performance. I don’t know if he was bored or not, but that’s the feeling that I got and so if he looks bored….I feel bored.

J: I…I dunno…this band just makes me feel a lot of negative things and I don’t like feeling negative things..’cause it’s not …you know how there’s some bands that make you feel negative..like they make me feel sad..they make me feel angry..but in a good way?

K: They make you feel certain emotions.

J: Yeah.

K: They pull certain emotions.

J: But this frustrates me, because I’m like, “Why…do you exist??” That was harsh!

K: So I’m kind of curious, Jun. How many skirts do you give them?

J: Zero.

K: Zero skirts!! DAMMNNNN. So for this band…

J: How many skirts would you give them?

K: I’d give them 2.

J: 2?

K: I’d give them 2 because..of the sound you know..? It’s decent…that’s about it. It’s not intriguing..it’s not exciting…it’s just…

J: How did it make you feel?

K: Nothing. I didn’t feel anything actually. They lyrics promised so much feeling…and then when I heard the song it’s like…”oh it’s ok…kind of average.” You know..it’s nice. It..like..

J: It’s very orthodox. I do respect the band…in the sense that they’re doing their own thing, they’re creating their own stuff. I mean..they are writing their own music and writing their own lyrics. I respect that, that’s how they express themselves. Cool. Just don’t express yourself near me.

K: Well what did you guys think of the band?

J: AHHHH…

K：ハーイ！

J：ハーイ！！

K：Junkoだよ！

J：Kristinaだよ！二人でJKJK…

JK: BOOM!

J：Applicat Spectraってバンドでね。大阪で初めて観たんだけど、友達と行って最前列にたってたのね。前に立つの好きだから。出てきた瞬間友達と「なんかいい感じじゃない？」って思ったの。ボーカルがベース弾きだったから、良い！って思って。かなり好みだったの。それで演奏初めて、「まぁ…いいんじゃない？」って思ったんだけど、歌い始めたとき…すこーしづつ後ろに下がっていって…会場の１番後ろまで。そしたら会場から出た。

K：えぇ！

J：「セントエルモ」って曲を聴きます。この曲は繋がりの曲だと思う。「いつかは消える　かすかな記憶　思い出すくらい…甘い夢見ていたい」

これいいショットだね。

１、２、３、４。４人編成だね。

K：Junは本当に好きじゃないね…

J：本当に嫌な気分になるの。PVには良いショットあったけどね。

K：PVはよかったと思うよ。

J：でね、見なければ…彼の顔を見なければ…みんな見なければ…PVを見なければ、それと音もとれば…ね…

K：携帯の電源切れば…それで動画も止めたら、大丈夫だね。

J：そしたら好き。K：そしたら全部大丈夫なのね！

はい、Junが怒りで爆発する前に…えっと…私の感想ね…アニメの主題歌っぽいよね。明かるいし、繋がりについて歌ってるし…でも…たぶんね…ボーカルのパフォーマンスで分からなくなった。つまらないのかどうなのか分からないけど、彼を見てたらかなりつまらなそうで…それを見てると私もつまらない。

J：分からない…でもこのバンド聴いてるとすごく嫌な気分になるし、そんな気持ち嫌だ。なんだろう…たまにネガティブな気持ちにさせるバンドとかいるじゃん…悲しくなったり…怒ったり…でもいい感じに？

K：感情を感じさせる。

J：そう。

K：感情を引っぱりだしたりね。

J：でもこのバンドはイライラする、「何で…存在してるの？」それかなりきついね。

K：気になるんだけど、Junは何スカートあげる？

J：ゼロ。

K：ゼロスカート！うわぁぁぁ！このバンドだと…

J：何スカートあげる？

K：私は２つかな。

J：２？

K：２スカートあげる理由は…音がね…？普通…だけで。かなり良いってわけじゃないし、面白いってわけじゃないし…

J：どんな気持ちになった？

K：何も。本当に何も感じなかった。歌詞の説明を聞いて、すごく期待したんだけど、曲自体を聞いて…「あぁ…なんか、普通。」まぁ、良かったんじゃない…

J：かなりオーソドックスじゃない？バンドは尊重してるよ。やりたいことをやってるし、自分で何かを作ってるし。作詞作曲してるし。それは本当に尊重してるし、自分たちが表現したいことを表現してる。いいと思う。ただ、それを私が見えないとこでして。

K：みんなはこのバンドのことどう思った？

J：コメントで教えてね！

■■ 今日のフレーズ！■■

I dig it.

は「好み」や「いいんじゃない」って意味を表しています。何かを聞いたり見たりしたときに使います。

I have all the bad feels.

ここで使われている feels は「感情」って意味です。前に bad や good を足すことで悪い感情や良い感情を表現できます。なのでI have all the bad feels は全ての嫌な感情を持っている、感じる、を表しています。

before Jun explodes in anger

このexplodes in angerは怒りが込み過ぎて爆発する。って意味ですが、anger じゃなくても、他の気持ちを入れ替えで使えます。Explodes in happiness だと嬉しくて爆発するとかでも使えます。

my thoughts on the video

my thoughts on…を使うときは「自分が○○について思うには…」です。自分の意見や思いを表現するときに使うフレーズです。

what..threw me off is

Kristinaがここで使うthrew me offは予想外って意味です。思っていた、予想していたこととはまた逆に、を表現しています。バランスを崩すときにも使うフレーズでもあります。The weight of my backpack threw me off リュックの重さのせいでバランスが崩れた。

Why…do you exist?

何で存在してるの？って意味のこのフレーズは強めできつめなフレーズですが、半分冗談で使われる場合が多いです。

That was harsh!

harshはきついって意味です。なので、that was harsh はさっきのはきつかった！を表現してます。

Just don’t express yourself near me.

Express yourself は自分を表現するって意味です。そこでdon’t express yourself near meで言うと自分を私の近くで表現しないで。“Just don’t ○○ near me.” はよく使えるフレーズで、私の近くで○○をしないで。または “just don’t ○○ near ○○” は “○○の近くで○○をしないで。”としても使えます。
