アメリカで密かに話題になっている #YourSouvenir を紹介します。直訳すると “あなたの置き土産” でしょうか。別れた恋人の思い出が詰まった、捨てられないモノなどを募集して写真で紹介するプロジェクト。あなたは共感できますか？

A trend that is starting to get popular, today we will introduce #YourSouvenir. Keeping something from an ex that, for some reason, you can’t throw away. It started out as a photography project, and now its a trend!

Kristina: Howdy! It’s Jun!

Junko: It’s Kristina!

Kristina: Today we’re going to talk about, souvenirs from your ex. Also, #YourSouvenir. Can you explain that hashtag Jun?

Junko: Yea! It’s a trend that’s starting to happen on Instagram, especially on Instagram, though it’s on uh…Twitter also.

Kristina: What about Tumblr?

Junko: Tumblr, I did not check Tumblr. I wonder if it’s on Tumblr?

For those of you who have been in a relationship I’m sure you will understand that somethings you just can’t get rid of. Even if your feelings for that person, once you’re not in this relationship is bad, or nothing, or you still…no matter what those feelings are, there are certain things that for some reason you can’t get rid of.

Kristina: Hence the word souvenirs. It’s something that you keep hold of to remind you of that relationship. A souvenir is an object you take, usually from a trip or vacation and…

Junko: To remember. Yea, that makes sense.

Kristina: To remember what you experience. And so like when you have a souvenir from your ex, it’s kind of like…this is something from that time. Maybe it’s not about that person, maybe it’s about that period in your life.

Junko: There was this photographer, insert name here, he photographed a whole bunch of these men who had souvenirs from their ex’s. Some were…like this one guy had a shop that they had opened up together. This other guy had a cat, um and then this guy had a really cheap BIC Lighter but for some reason just couldn’t…give it up?

Kristina: Cause it was his ex’s favorite.

Junko: Yea.

It’s a very interesting concept and um…I don’t know, I think everyone has at least something…do you?

Kristina: Uh…yea, actually. This tattoo if you can see it. It’s this little red floral thing. Um…basically we had gotten it together when we had decided that we wanted to get married so, we got tattoos together instead of a wedding band or an engagement band. Um…you know sometimes people ask me about it and I honestly don’t have any bad feelings towards that person. Or that time, because it’s…it was one of my best relationships and one of the moments in my life where I think I grew exponentially as a person. Um…so I keep it. Nowadays you can get your tattoos removed but…

Junko: And a lot of people do get tattoos removed.

Kristina: This represents an important time in my life.

What about you Jun?

Junko: I have some artwork from my pervious relationship. Um…that person was an artist and would often draw things, paint things and give them to me…either slip them under my door or leave them in my shoebox. I guess ever since then, whenever I want to make things, I always want to make them for people.

Kristina: Yea, Jun has drawn me quite a few things. From like a bag for when I debuted for wrestling. As well as several cute little disturbing drawings.

Junko: Yea…

Kristina: Those are my favorite.

Junko: You gave me some requests.

Kristina: I did! Some awesome requests.

So is there anything you have and would consider a souvenir from an ex relationship? If so, what is it? What is about that object that makes you keep it?

Does it remind you of a certain time? Encourage you to be better, I mean, or is it something that, like, it’s really negative and it picks at your heart and you just want to remember not to date that type of person…or is just like trash that you haven’t gotten rid of yet?

Junko: Or is it because you still have feelings for them and you’re just like…I can’t get rid of this…

Junko: うん！インスタグラムで流行り出したんだよ、特にインスタグラムで、今はツイッターにもあるけど。

Kristina: タンブラーはどう？

Junko: タンブラー、タンブラーチェックしてない。タンブラーだとどんな感じかな？

今まで誰かと付き合ったことがある人には、私が何の事言ってるか解ると思うけど、みんなも捨てられないものがあるよね。

一度は付き合ったその人の事を悪く思った、何も思っていない、もしくはまだ未練がある…その気持ちがどんなものであっても、処分できないハッキリとした理由が必ずある。

Kristina: だから、souvenirsっていうんだね。あの付き合っていた事を思い出しちゃう物。

置き土産っていうのは普段は自分が旅行とか休暇とかで買ったものだけど…

Junko: 思い出す。そう、そういうもの。

Kristina: 自分が経験した事を覚えておくこと。あとは元恋人からの思い出の品があると、それって、一種のあれみたい…その時から存在する何か。それってその人に限った事ではないかもしれないけどね、人生の中にあるその間の事かもしれないし。

Junko: あるカメラマンが居てね、ここに名前を入れて、彼はかなりの人数の人を写真に残していたの、元恋人からの思い出の品を持っている人の写真。ある人は…一緒にオープンしたお店を持ってたりとか。他には猫を飼ってたりとか、うん、あと別の人はどういう訳だかかなり安っぽいビックライター持ってて、ただ…諦められなかったのな？

Kristina: なぜなら前の恋人のお気に入りだったから。

Junko: そう。

凄く面白いコンセプトだし、うん、わからないけどね、私が思うにみんな最低何かしらある…あなたにも？

Kristina: あー…うん、実は。このタトゥーだよ、見えてれば。この小さい赤い花のやつ。

んー…もともとは、結婚しようって決めてうちらで一緒に入れたものなの、結婚指輪とかエンゲージリングではなくて、タトゥーを一緒に入れたの。うん…ほら時々みんな私に聞いてくるでしょ、私はそういう人に対して嫌気がさすっていう事は正直、全然無いよ。それにこの期間は私にとって一番の良かった付き合いのうちの一つで、一人の人間としてかなり成長できた、私の生活の中にある瞬間の一部だから。うん…だから私はこれを残してるの。最近だと、タトゥーも取り除けるみたいけど…

Junko: タトゥー取り除いて貰う人けっこういるよね。

Kristina: これは、自分の人生の中での貴重な時を現してくれているものなんだよ。

あなたはどう、Jun？

Junko: 私にも前の交際の時から持ってるアート作品があるよ。うん…あの人はアーティストだったし、時々、色んなものを書いたり描いたりしてたし、それを私にくれたの…ドアの下からスッと入れてくれたりとか、私のくつ箱に置いていってくれたりしてね。あれ以来だと思うんだけどね、自分が何かを作りたいなと思う時っていつもね、大抵は人のために作りたいからなの。

Kristina: そうだね、Junは私にもちょっとしたもの書いてくれるもんね。レスリングでデビューした時のカバンとか。他にも小さくてキモかわいい可愛い画とかね。

Junko: うん…
