日本同様、アメリカにも様々はフードトレンドがとても早いサイクルで登場します。今回紹介するのは、ホームメイドサブウェイ(Homemade Subway)、カンブッチャ(Kambcha)。それぞれどんなものでしょうか？ロシアの朝ごはんを食べながら語ります。

Just like Japan, in America there are also many different food trends. This time we will be introducing homemade subways and kambucha while eating a Russian breakfast! What do you think they are?

Junko: What are you doing?…we’re gonna go to WORLD BREAKFAST ALL DAY soon. Don’t you remember?

Kristina: Yeah! I know!

Junko: So Kristina. Can you still eat?

Kristina: Of course!

Junko: ’Cause like…the portion’s here are pretty…uh…big …they’re Western sized.

Kristina: That’s Okay…I’m fine of that! So uh this month is Russian food right?

Junko: Yeah…it is. It is. Have you ever had anything Russian?

Kristina: No…no I have not…Actually I think I’ve only had a borsch once.

Junko: The only thing Russian I’ve ever had is vodka.

Kristina: Vodka! Okay well I guess I’ve had two things that were Russian.

Junko: Oh my goodness!

Kristina: Take a look this guys! So we have mushrooms,beets salads, crepe…and uh,what’s this?

A server: This is uh…soba.this ..in gratin is used to make soba and we cook with milk and salt.

Kristina: Beets are so good for you too.

Junko: I love mushrooms.

Kristina: This is Mors!!

Junko: Yes. Cheers!!

Kristina: Chopsticks skills wait,cheers!

Junko: So now we are eating everything but um…what are you gonna have second breakfast?

Kristina: You mean third breakfast? Since I had my noodles and then this. I’ll probably just have an onigiri…like five.What about you?

Junko: Well I brought a home-made-SUBWAY.

Kristina: What…what do you mean?

Junko: It’s like this…weird trend. SUBWAY is a sandwich shop and really if you wanted to you could totally make those sandwiches at home…

Kristina: Mmm…

Junko: I think it’s started out of joke but…you know, jokes escalate to become a trend. Like Lebroning.

Kristina: Well Lebroning is actually funny. I don’t really think it’s very clever like Lebroning to me that makes sense, the joke makes sense. Homemade SUBWAY it’s like…what it just sounds like someone from promotion team…like for example, in Japan, KFC is associated with Christmas and that was all just because marketing and now it’s real,it’s took time but now it’s a thing. Anyways, that was just my thought. Alright now I’m gonna eat some beets!!

I wonder if they have Kambucha here?

Junko: Eww! You like it?

Kristina: Yeah. It tastes pretty good, and it’s good for your system.

Junko: Yeah…but it’s just so gross…!!

Kristina: What do you mean?

Junko: Kambucha is fermented tea.

Kristina: Yea

Junko: And…to make it like that, like that you grow bacteria inside, so when you drink Kambucha is see like little flakes floating in there. And that comes from SCOBY, which is also known as the “mother”.

Kristina: I think I’ve seen that before.

Junko: Yeah.

Kristina: My ex used to make that and then hide it in a dark corner of the kitchen. So it would grow bigger.

Junko: Eww!

Kristina: Ahahahaha!!!

Junko: What I think it’s interesting is Kambucha used to be a…drink that hardcore hippies used to…, hippies…hipsters used to drink you know? And then became more of people who are health conscious

Kristina: Like a national fad.

Junko: Well now…it’s yea…main stream in there uh…there are places that actually produce Kambucha and sell it.

Kristina: That’s interesting. So basically if I wonder to find out what new trends are going to hit the health industry or like anything related to health and fitness, I would just check out at San Francisco and Portland. Hippies…all natural. That was arm hair. Well I guess I can’t get Kambucha here.

Junko: No, I…I think the only way to really get Kambucha in Japan is to make it yourself.

Kristina: You think I can make them in Listn.me office?

Junko: NO!!!

Junko: But you can definitely get in your hands on some home-made-subway,cause uh…hey!! That’s easy and you can easily get your hands on some Russian food just make your way over to…

Kristina: WORLD BREAKFAST ALL DAY.

Kristina: Yeah! 知ってるよ！

Junko: So Kristina. まだ食べられる？

Kristina: もちろん！

Junko: だってあなたが食べるものってかなり…uh…大きいよ…ウェスタンサイズだよ。

Kristina: 別にいいよ…私はそれでも平気！So uh今月はロシアのご飯だよね？

Junko: うん、そう…それ。ロシアのもの今までで何か食べた事ある？

Kristina: うううん…ないなぁ…１回だけボルシチ食べた事あったかも。

Junko: 私は今までだとウォッカだけ。

Kristina: ウォッカ！あ〜じゃあ私は今までだとロシアに関しては２つかな。

Junko: Oh my goodness!

Kristina: みんな〜見て！Soマッシュルームでしょ、ビーツのサラダにクレープに…これは何ですか？

A server: これは、uh…そばです。グラタンに入ってるこれがそばを作るのに使われててミルクと塩で作ってありますよ。

Kristina: ビーツもすごく身体にいいんだよ。

Junko: マッシュルーム大好き〜。

Kristina: これはMors！！

Junko: Yes. 乾杯！

Kristina: お箸のスキルは置いといて、乾杯！

Junko: So 今私たち食べてる最中だけど、um…２番目の朝ご飯は何を食べるの？

Kristina: ３番目の朝ご飯の事が言いたいの？もう既にヌードル食べてるし、あと今これでしょ。お握り食べようと思って…５時あたり。あなたはどうなの？

Junko: What about home-made-SUBWAY?

自宅サブウェイはどう？

Kristina: 何…どういう意味？

Junko: ちょっと変わったトレンドみたいな。SUBWAYはサンドイッチ屋さんだから、完全にその手のサンドイッチが作れるよ、自宅SUBWAYなら…

Kristina: Mmm…

Junko: 私が思うに最初は冗談で始まったのが…ほら、冗談が流行に移り変わる。Lebroningみたいな。

Kristina: Oh Lebroningは確かに面白い。私はLebroningほど賢い感じには思えないな、Lebroningは意味が解る、ジョークが成り立ってる。

自宅 SUBWAYって何かさ…広報部が出したものみたいに聞こえるんだよね…例えばさ、日本だとKFCはクリスマスと関連づけていて、ただのマーケティングっていうだけなのに、これが本来のものになっていて時代をつかんでいて、でも成り立ってる。まあ、これってただの私の考えだけどね。よ〜し今はビーツを食べるんだも〜ん！！

ここってみんなKambucha飲むのか疑問なんだけど？

Junko: おえーっ！好きなの？

Kristina: Yeah. 美味しいし、身体の器官にもいいんだよ。

Junko: そうだけど…でも、超グロい…！！

Kristina: どうしてそう思うの？

Junko: Kambuchaって発酵したお茶だよ。

Kristina: Yeah.

Junko: それで…こうやって作るんだよ、バクテリアを中で増やしていって、Kambucha飲む頃には容器の中で小さいものがフヨフヨ浮いてるのが見えるんだよ。それって、 SCOBYから出来てて、“mother”としても知られてるんだよ。

Kristina: それ前に見た事あると思う。

Junko: Yeah.

Kristina: 私の元カレよく作ってて、その時は台所の奥の暗いところに隠して。だから今頃はもっと大きくなってそう。

Junko: おぇーっ！
